Mt. Baker 2008 Wanderlust Event.

The event pulled in 50+ participants from Portland, Seattle, Camano Island, and the greater Bellingham area. In the relaxed hour prior to the drive, the H&R lot overflowed with the sweet smell of performance car exhaust, talk of components, tattooed hipsters, and more than one fog horn blast from a Euro car horn. Before leaving on the drive, H&R event coordinators handed out bags of goodies, and one lucky (and as of yet anonymous) Wanderluster received the treasured H&R Heute.
The drive up to Mt. Baker was brilliant due to the clear, blue sky and near tropical temperatures. It was exhilarating watching every styling Subaru after sporty VW after classic Beamer hugging the super tight turns up the mountain. Every turbo seemed to work harder than the last as the air got thinner and it was beautiful! Talk about immediate transportation to your happy place. But in all seriousness, the day and drive was a perfect reflection of H&R Wanderlust spirit: people showing off their personal style while hanging out with new and old friends, talking about cars, and offering up some love for a great stretch of pavement.
