H&R/TMS Racing Returns to Homestead
HOMESTEAD-MIAMI SPEEDWAY, Homestead, FL, USA (March 12, 2009)—Daytona race winners H&R/Turner Motorsport are back in Florida this weekend at the Homestead-Miami Speedway for round two of the Grand-Am Koni Sports Car Challenge. The team will pack a 1-2 punch in the GS class with its two BMW M3s and strike hard in the ST class in the team’s new 2009 BMW 328i. Returning to a H&R/Turner Motorsport seat is Frank Selldorff, who has raced with the team in World Challenge and in SCCA and BMW Club Racing. Frank will pilot the 328i with team owner Will Turner. This weekend also sees the addition of Forgeline Wheels in an offical sponsor and technical partnership role.
H&R/Turner Motorsport is excited to be back in Florida. This is not the first time the Koni Challenge series has been to Homestead. The last time was 2007 where the Turner team scored podium finishes in both the GS (Auberlen/Gleason) and ST classes. The series is looking to make a splash in South Florida with a Fan Appreciation Weekend. By logging onto grand-am.com/konitickets fans can print out free passes to the speedway including free access to the paddock and garage area for both Saturday’s and Sunday’s races.
H&R/Turner Motorsport’s two M3 racers will have familiar names this weekend - round 1 winners, and Championship leaders, Bill Auberlen and Matt Bell will pilot the #96 M3; Chris Gleason and Joey Hand take the wheel of the #97 M3. Auberlen is also a past winner at Homestead in the 2007 Grand-Am Rolex Series Grand Prix of Miami. Re-joining the team for Homestead and beyond will be Frank Selldorff. Frank raced in the Speed Touring Car Series in 2003 with a best finish of fourth in Washington D.C. His Touring Car drive is bracketed by several seasons in SCCA and BMW Club Racing, where he scored multiple class wins in Turner-prepared M3s. Will Turner will be his co-driver in the #95 328i.
