Wanderlust: 2008 Drive to Mt. Baker

BELLINGHAM, WASHINGTON (August 16, 2008) On a beautiful, bright morning in the Northwest, 50+ cars met at H&R Special Springs for the inaugural Drive to Mt. Baker—the latest of many events in the H&R Wanderlust Tour.  The event pulled in participants from Portland, Seattle, Camano Island, and the greater Bellingham area.  In the relaxed hour prior to the drive, the H&R lot overflowed with the sweet smell of performance car exhaust, talk of components, tattooed hipsters, and more than one fog horn blast from a Euro car horn.  H&R event coordinators handed out Tueten before the drive began—full of H&R product stickers, an official H&R Wanderlust event t-shirt in leaf, an embroidered H&R hat, Import Tuner and Super Street phone leashes, a current Modified Magazine and H&R Catalogue, five $50 gas cards, and one lucky (and as of yet anonymous) Wanderluster received the treasured H&R Heute.

The drive up to Mt. Baker was brilliant due to the clear, blue sky and near tropical temperatures. It was exhilarating watching every styling Subaru after sporty VW after classic Beamer hugging the super tight turns up the mountain. Every turbo seemed to work harder than the last as the air got thinner and it was beautiful! Talk about immediate transportation to your happy place.  But in all seriousness, the day and drive was a perfect reflection of H&R Wanderlust spirit:  people showing off their personal style while hanging out with new and old friends, talking about cars, and offering up some love for a great stretch of pavement.
